oh, so sweet!

I haven't had any real cravings yet, and according to what I've read, doctors say there is no such thing as pregnancy cravings. I have my usual sweet tooth, it may just be slightly higher. :-)
I am feeling good and have lots of energy in the morning. In the evenings, it is so hard to move and I feel a lot more sluggish.
Scott got home last night, and we will be in St.Petersburg with family until early Sunday morning. Then back to Antigua!
Now maybe it's time for an ice cream cone...

Feeling good!

I am feeling great and have had no morning sickness or nausea. I have noticed my energy levels are much lower than usual and my skin is going haywire. But I feel good, am taking my vitamins and eating healthy!
We had a wonderful weekend in Costa Rica celebrating my birthday. One of the first in awhile without any alcohol. But many laughs and great memories, it was a blast!

My baby daddy is coming back in town tonight.

My parents are already thinking of names. Before long I bet they will have colors for the nursery picked out too, LOL!

What a wonderful feeling I have! This whole thing is just amazing!

Breaking the news

Telling our parents was such a wonderful occasion and both Michele and Bob and Becky and Jim were so thrilled for us.

We went to my parents house for dinner. On the way over, Scott and I picked up some non-alcoholic champagne and wine. Before we began to eat, we opened the wine and poured some for my mom. She doesn't usually drink wine, and when she said she didn't want any, we told her it was non-alcoholic, and that I was having some too. I made a toast to my parents for their anniversary (it was the next day) and to also them being grandparents. My mom immediately thought that I was joking, because I had made that joke many times before for April Fools Day. But after the news, there was lots of hugs, laughs and good stories shared.

We then went over to Becky and Jim's house and were going to pop open some non-alcoholic champagne, but they first asked us what we did today... so we told them we had a doctors appointment and that they we're going to have a little one. They were thrilled and were very happy for us. Funny thing about that, was that about a month ago, when we were in St.Pete last time, I had the book 'What to expect when you're expecting' in the car and Becky saw it. She sat us down and asked us if there was something we wanted to talk about, and I told her that I had gotten that book from Sarah in Panama because she had two copies. Which was the truth!
Maybe all my reading and learning about it all made it all happen! :-)

I had some HCG bloodwork done last week and two separate times to confirm my increasing hormones, and it said that they were doubling and that things were looking positive.
(watch out scott!!!)

Now we are waiting another month to go in for the first real OB appointment, get some bloodwork done and determine exactly how far along I really am.

And for the record, non-alcoholic red wine tastes like sour grape juice!

It's positive!

Last week, we flew back to St.Petersburg, as we were getting ready to fly to Costa Rica for my birthday weekend. I scheduled an annual pap appointment at the OB-GYN and during the normal tests, I asked the nurse to also do a pregnancy test. As I sat in the chair while she was taking my blood pressure, she looked at the test and she said it was positive. I couldn't believe it, so I asked her to do another one, and sure enough, that one was also positive.
So there I sat in a paper gown, waiting for the doctor to come in, just totally speechless about what I just heard. I spoke with the doc about it and told her that I was a little nervous because I had fallen down the stairs the previous week, but she assured me that there was nothing to worry about.
Scott picked me up and asked how the appointment went and I told him "we're having a baby!"
We both were so excited, and didn't know what to do. So we just smiled and hugged and were so thankful that we were going to be parents.
We went back later in the afternoon for an ultrasound, just to confirm that the pregnancy test was really true. However, the prior two weeks, I started feeling different, with lots of cramping, soreness and very tired. We saw the tiny sac inside the uterus and confirmed that we were definitely HAVING A BABY!
