i feel good!

i am feeling great and have a lot more energy again! i can stay up past 930 and can make it through the day without yawning the whole time.
going on almost 3.5 months, i just wish i would start to show already!

from all of the laboratory and blood work in panama, i got the results and everything is great. the baby is healthy and growing on pace! can't wait to tell the sex of it at the next appointment.

the next couple of months will probably be much of the same as i feel now, which is good because i have energy to do stuff.

what will it be, boy or girl? oh how i wonder, this sweet child of mine in my belly!

where oh where are you baby?

smooth sailing

We are in Panama, visiting doctors, and I had an ultrasound yesterday which tested for genetic abnormalities... and everything came back great, the baby is healthy! We got to see everything from the head and heartbeat to the little hands and spine. It was wonderful, and we got a video of our little one moving around! The doctors have been wonderful, extremely thorough and very informative. Now we just have to secure a place to live to start on the nursery.... :-)

Good news!

We got in to Panama last night and are with friends Hilt, Sarah and baby Sophia. Sarah made a doctors appt. for me, so this morning was such an exciting time!

I met with my new OB doctor here and she was fabulous. I had another ultrasound and got to see the little baby's heartbeat. Then we got to hear it! It was so incredible! I will be doing some bloodwork as well while we are here to ensure everything is going great. Good news, I am further along than I was previously told, as I had assumed. I have been feeling good, not quite as tired, and am almost 12 weeks along. Which means the first trimester is almost OVER! Wahoo, I can hopefully get some of my energy back! YAY!

So now, the due date is expected to be around JUNE 21!

We also got to view the Punta Pacifica John Hopkins Hospital, which was really great! The rooms were nice, and got to see the delivery area and where I will be for a couple days. It was so exciting. In the afternoon we went to look at places to live, and hopefully by the end of the trip we'll have a place picked out, so I can start prepping for the nursery! :-)

What a joyous, wonderful, fantastic day! We are beyond cloud 9...

whooped!

What a very tired and exhausting the past week and a half have been!
We had friends Tom, Reno and baby Carsen come visit from Denver, CO along with their friends and we met them over in St.Kitts for Thanksgiving. Then we came back to Antigua and had a good time, boating, the guys went jet skiing and catching up! It was a great time, but boy am i WHOOPED!

Morning mama!

Well my usual night owl habits or staying up late and sleeping in seem to have officially ended. I am lucky to stay up past 10pm and am awake and ready to rock and roll by 8am. Which is still so crazy to me, because I am getting more than 8 hours of sleep. But I am not a napper and don't sleep during the day- so I guess I make up for it at night!
It's been quite a change getting up early, my body is adjusting- now just gotta get Scott to bed before 1am!

I also started taking my prenatal vitamins right before I go to bed, and have not felt sick or nausea at all the past couple of nights. I think because I had been taking prenatal vitamins for years now, that when the doctor gave me a different kind, it was probably a bit stronger and something my body was not used to. So now, it's taken right before bed, and I feel good all day!

I am so excited, Scott and I talk everyday of how wonderful life is and how blessed we feel.

8 weeks...

I am 8 and a half weeks, according to the last ultrasound I had at the doctors.
I am so excited and just want to start showing my belly! :-)
I have been feeling good during the day and have more energy than in the evening, where I can hardly move and am sluggish. I have been going to bed so early, which is such a change for me being the usual night owl.
Eating well and taking prenatal vitamins...

nighttime nausea

i have not gotten sick yet- no praying to the porcelain gods- thank goodness.
however in the evenings, usually after 8pm, i do get a bit queasy and have to make sure i then eat again lots of carbs and drink fluids.
it has only been the past two nights, but i have felt it and just tried to ward it off and not think about it.
scott's aunt karyn, who is an ob/gyn in upstate new york, gave me some b-natal lollipops and hard candies, which contain a lot of vitamin b and are supposed to help with sickness. i tried one, mostly because i was curious what they tasted like- green apple lozenge and cherry therapop- didn't sound too bad. well they definitely don't taste like any old regular piece of candy, that's for sure.
i am hoping that the tummy wooziness doesn't happen again tonight.

feeding frenzy!

i sure had quite the appetite today and was following the "see-food" meal plan, where pretty much anything i saw, i wanted to eat, and therefore, put in my mouth.
it seems to be much better on my stomach when i eat frequently throughout the day and also helps my blood sugar. i haven't felt nauseas yet, so things are good.
currently, i love animal crackers, oranges, popcorn and pudding. :-)

We have a date!

We went to the doctors today and had an ultrasound. The baby is growing and today I was 7 weeks and 1 day.

OUR DUE DATE IS JUNE 28, 2010.

We are so thrilled, it was great to see the baby on the monitor. We also got to see the heartbeat, which looked like a flashing light. It was so exciting, and great confirmation for us. I am feeling good, eating healthy and taking my multi vitamins.

Today was a day we'll never forget!

This is what our little baby looks like, more like a worm than a baby. And it's approximately the size of a blueberry. Oh how much it will change!

Safe and Sound!

We made it back to Antigua last night after a long and horrible 14 hour travel day. We had a long layover due to mechanical problems, so we were stuck in Miami most of the day.
But it is great to be back on the island. It is super hot, so we are drinking lots of water to stay cool. We missed Toby so much and told him our news and that he was going to be a brother! He was happy and wagged his tail a lot! :-)
Looking forward to cooking some good meals.
Uncle Curt and Diane are coming to visit this Thursday, we are excited to tell them the news!

oh, so sweet!

I haven't had any real cravings yet, and according to what I've read, doctors say there is no such thing as pregnancy cravings. I have my usual sweet tooth, it may just be slightly higher. :-)
I am feeling good and have lots of energy in the morning. In the evenings, it is so hard to move and I feel a lot more sluggish.
Scott got home last night, and we will be in St.Petersburg with family until early Sunday morning. Then back to Antigua!
Now maybe it's time for an ice cream cone...

Feeling good!

I am feeling great and have had no morning sickness or nausea. I have noticed my energy levels are much lower than usual and my skin is going haywire. But I feel good, am taking my vitamins and eating healthy!
We had a wonderful weekend in Costa Rica celebrating my birthday. One of the first in awhile without any alcohol. But many laughs and great memories, it was a blast!

My baby daddy is coming back in town tonight.

My parents are already thinking of names. Before long I bet they will have colors for the nursery picked out too, LOL!

What a wonderful feeling I have! This whole thing is just amazing!

Breaking the news

Telling our parents was such a wonderful occasion and both Michele and Bob and Becky and Jim were so thrilled for us.

We went to my parents house for dinner. On the way over, Scott and I picked up some non-alcoholic champagne and wine. Before we began to eat, we opened the wine and poured some for my mom. She doesn't usually drink wine, and when she said she didn't want any, we told her it was non-alcoholic, and that I was having some too. I made a toast to my parents for their anniversary (it was the next day) and to also them being grandparents. My mom immediately thought that I was joking, because I had made that joke many times before for April Fools Day. But after the news, there was lots of hugs, laughs and good stories shared.

We then went over to Becky and Jim's house and were going to pop open some non-alcoholic champagne, but they first asked us what we did today... so we told them we had a doctors appointment and that they we're going to have a little one. They were thrilled and were very happy for us. Funny thing about that, was that about a month ago, when we were in St.Pete last time, I had the book 'What to expect when you're expecting' in the car and Becky saw it. She sat us down and asked us if there was something we wanted to talk about, and I told her that I had gotten that book from Sarah in Panama because she had two copies. Which was the truth!
Maybe all my reading and learning about it all made it all happen! :-)

I had some HCG bloodwork done last week and two separate times to confirm my increasing hormones, and it said that they were doubling and that things were looking positive.
(watch out scott!!!)

Now we are waiting another month to go in for the first real OB appointment, get some bloodwork done and determine exactly how far along I really am.

And for the record, non-alcoholic red wine tastes like sour grape juice!

It's positive!

Last week, we flew back to St.Petersburg, as we were getting ready to fly to Costa Rica for my birthday weekend. I scheduled an annual pap appointment at the OB-GYN and during the normal tests, I asked the nurse to also do a pregnancy test. As I sat in the chair while she was taking my blood pressure, she looked at the test and she said it was positive. I couldn't believe it, so I asked her to do another one, and sure enough, that one was also positive.
So there I sat in a paper gown, waiting for the doctor to come in, just totally speechless about what I just heard. I spoke with the doc about it and told her that I was a little nervous because I had fallen down the stairs the previous week, but she assured me that there was nothing to worry about.
Scott picked me up and asked how the appointment went and I told him "we're having a baby!"
We both were so excited, and didn't know what to do. So we just smiled and hugged and were so thankful that we were going to be parents.
We went back later in the afternoon for an ultrasound, just to confirm that the pregnancy test was really true. However, the prior two weeks, I started feeling different, with lots of cramping, soreness and very tired. We saw the tiny sac inside the uterus and confirmed that we were definitely HAVING A BABY!
